Corkscrew
(41 votes)

This was the UK's first double corkscrew roller coaster many years ago and is still a great ride. It's not too intense because of its length so is ideal for first time looping coaster riders but beware as the ride is pretty rough so you'll need to brace yourself! It sits in a sheltered swamp behind the Thunder Rock Rally in UG Land, home to launched coaster Rita. (Minimum Height: 1.2m)

It was so sad to see this ride go last year, it was a great ride for nearly 30 years and was a real breakthrough for British rollercoasters when it opened! Ok so it did become unpleasantly rougth with age but this was kind of what gave the ride it's character, but no doubt Alton Towers will open something far superior in 2010 fingers crossed!
