Alton Towers - Ride Guide
Nemesis -
Probably one of the world's most awesome inverted rollercoasters, Nemesis pushes the senses to the limit. Riders can expect to experience G-Forces of an awesome 4, Nemesis has now passed its tenth birthday but is definitely not for the faint hearted as it still pulls an incredible punch!
Submission -
Surrender yourself to Submission. 2001 brought this new instrument of torture, which subjects victims to 90 seconds of relentless spinning and inversion counter rotating 15 metres above ground level! This double inverted ride pounds and plunges the senses into freefall.
AIR : Aerial Inversion Ride -
One of a new generation of coasters where riders hang from beneath the track horizontally, experiencing the freedom of flight! From ground-scraping swoops to sky-soaring rolls, from stomach stalling falls to plunging dives through underground caverns 'air' is like nothing before!
Hex-
The legend of the towers - Generations in the making, Hex takes its theme from the chilling tale of a local family's fate, bound within the chains of a mysterious giant oak tree. A disorientating mix of ride, cinema and spectacular lighting effects, this is a ride that ends on the other side.
Congo River Rapids -
This is the best fun ride in the park for the whole family, and you get soaked! Its got drops, speedy downhill rapids and plenty of waterfalls. You wont want to miss this, especially if your not so keen on the thrill rides.
Corkscrew -
This was the UK's first double corkscrew rollercoaster many years ago and is still a great ride. The ride is not very intense because of its length so it is ideal for first time rollercoaster riders. It sits in the sheltered swamp behind Rita is UG Land.
The Flume -
The UK's longest log flume winds nearly 1 kilometre through woodland and has three drops. In 2004 it was given a retheme - boats are now bath tubs and rubber ducks, taps, bath plugs and showers have been added all over the ride to make it a completely new bathtime experience!
Ripsaw -
This is the same ride as 'Ramesis Revenge' at Chessington, You sit in a gondola while the two large arms take you up 50 feet in the air, spin you over and over, forwards and backwards before being held in front of water and and spun back down to the boarding platform.
A state of the art launched roller coaster, it is located within the 'UG Land' area of the park standing at 18 meters high and rocketing from 0 to 100 kph in 2.8 Seconds. This breathtaking ride pulls an incredible G-force of 4.7 on launch and continues at an average speed of 60 kph!
The haunted house strikes back! 'Duel', it's a fast paced shoot out, as you, armed with a laser gun, battle against the evil forces and get a score at the end. Very much like 'Tomb Blaster' at Chessington. An interactive adventure that shouldn't be missed, good family fun!
Spinball Whizzer -
Tthis spinning roller coaster is themed around being part of a giant pinball machine, a fantastic ride joining in the fun of Adventure Land. The twisting, turning track winds across the landscape throwing its riders in each and every direction!.
Oblivion - the world's first vertical drop rollercoaster!
The lift hill puts you on your back so you can't see the what's going to happen. At the top you swing round the corner and over the edge. Wait for a few seconds as you hear Don't...Look...Down... And then you plunge into oblivion.
