Sea Life Centre
A brand new aquatic attraction opened at Chessington in the start of the 2008 season, a Sea Life Centre with over 20 marine life displays housing species ranging from tiny shrimps and starfish to magnificent sharks and stingrays.
The 250,000 litre aquarium brings kids of all ages almost nose to nose with a wide range of sea creatures, creating the illusion that it is the visitor is on display while the fish swim freely around. Interactive 'touchpools', fun exhibitions and a walkthrough ocean tank offer a final 'wow-experience' as the fish swim overhead. There are around 3,000 creatures across 29 tanks including a 3m by 9m ocean tank with a walk-through tunnel.
The new aquarium is a compact, yet comprehensive aquatic experience that arrived in the UK from Nuremberg, Germany in November 2007. The facility is Europe's first mobile aquarium and is housed within a marquee structure. It is located in the area of the park that was previous occupied by the Children's Zoo, those animals have been relocated within the park. Planning permission has been obtained for the attraction to be in place for 2 years.
