4D fun at Drayton Manor

Drayton Manor theme park is preparing to kick off the 2009 season with a brand new £1 million attraction - a 4D cinema.

New for 2009: The Curse of Skull RockThe state-of-the-art 152 seat theatre, developed by simulation specialist Simworx UK, will feature numerous immersive special effects to create an unforgettable experience for all the family.

As well as seats that move, slide and rumble in sync with the action on screen, water spray, air blasts, leg ticklers, aroma, low smoke and bubbles released at key moments will add to the excitement.

Swash buckling adventure, The Curse of Skull Rock, which was crowned winner of the Best Children’s Animated Film award at the prestigious Stuttgart Film Festival, will be the first feature to be shown.

The 4D cinema will be housed in an existing building which Drayton Manor will re-fit with a 1930’s, Art-deco style frontage. West Midlands based Simworx UK will provide a high definition projection system to present the 3D imagery, along with special effects lighting and the company’s Dimensions 4D effects seats.

Edward Pawley, general manager for Park Operations, said:

The 4D theatre will be a great addition to the park. Drayton Manor has an amazing mix of rides and attractions for all ages, but the 4D cinema will provide a fantastic indoor attraction for the whole family.

Terry Monkton, Managing Director of Simworx, added:
I am delighted that Drayton Manor will open one of our 4D effects theatres for the 2009 season. I believe this will be an excellent attraction for the park’s target market and I’m sure it will be popular with all age groups.
