For an enchanting, magical destination for the whole family to enjoy, traditionally, Lapland has been the place where you’ll be guaranteed snow, Santa and reindeer. However, that is set to change.
With ongoing discussions about the state of the economy resulting in a tightening of the purse strings, this far-flung destination could be one expense you could do without this year. Fortunately, you can still enjoy a magical day out with the family without spending hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds as Thomas Land at Drayton Manor in Staffordshire has been transformed into a festive winter wonderland this Christmas.
Open until 4th January 2009, Thomas Land will have snow falling every other hour, Santa and his real reindeer relaxing ahead of a busy Christmas Eve and the Fat Controller will be on hand to meet and greet the young and young at heart. And there is no need to worry if the weather is a bit chilly as Drayton Manor has that covered too with outdoor heating and undercover areas to shelter from the snow!
Santa will be the star of the live show - Santa’s Magical Adventure - which follows a young girl who has written a very long Christmas list for Santa, but is taken on a journey to discover the real meaning of Christmas. As a special treat for those children who see the show in the Big Top theatre, Santa and his little helpers have been busy making some presents especially for the park’s visitors which will be given to all under nines at no additional cost.
Drayton Manor's Magical ChristmasColin Bryan, managing director for Drayton Manor, commented: Everything travelers have come to expect from Lapland, from the snow, Santa and reindeer, has been recreated at Thomas Land, helping families save their hard-earned cash and eradicating the need to fly.
