Drayton Manor have opened their newest ride at the park, which was unveiled at a special VIP event by Twist and Pulse, the sensational street dance duo who were runners up on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent 2010.
New for 2011: Ben 10 - Ultimate MissionTwist and Pulse, whose real names are Ashley Glazebrook (20) and Glen Murphy (20), performed twice at the opening, including the routines seen on the hit TV programme that have wowed audiences across the UK. There were other celebrities present at the event, including Treyc Cohen from X-Factor.
Ben 10 - Ultimate Mission rollercoaster is the first of its kind in Europe, launching riders forwards on their first tour of the 180m track, hitting speeds of 55kph and a g-force of 3, before returning travelling backwards along the same route. It is based on the Ben 10 TV series, produced by Cartoon Network.
The ride is part of a fantastic Cartoon Network Street that features an exclusively themed Cartoon Network shop, showcasing an exciting range of Cartoon Network games and toys and allows riders to view video footage and images of their adventure on the roller coaster ride.
There is also a Cartoon Network diner, thematically decorated both inside and out, that serves a variety of sandwiches, salads and children’s meals and plays a selection of Cartoon Network cartoons on flat screens around the diner.
Colin Bryan, managing director of Drayton Manor, near Tamworth, Staffordshire, said: It’s been a fantastic turnout today for the launch. We are so very proud of what we achieve at this theme park as a family. Our aim is to provide a fantastic, entertaining experience for all our visitors and we hope this latest addition will do just that.
Drayton Manor, the UK’s biggest independently owned theme park, welcomes over 1.2 million visitors every year.
