Preparations for the launch of Drayton Manor’s brand new thrill ride, Air Race, have been vamped up with the announcement that one of the UK’s hottest pop rock bands, The Vamps, will be officially opening the park's new ride on Saturday 5th July 2014.
New for 2014: Air RaceThe British four-piece band, made up of Bradley Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans, will officially launch the new £1.2 million ride and go on to be the first to ride it at the park this summer, ahead of their highly anticipated debut headline tour. The boys, whose hits include ‘Can We Dance’ and ‘Last Night’, have ‘High Hopes’ for the new ride.
Air Race will take riders on a stomach-churning aerial adventure, turning their world upside down at a height of up to eight metres. Accommodating up to 24 riders at one time in six, four-seater aeroplanes, ‘pilots’ will experience accelerations of almost 4G as they board the acrobatic aeroplane flight.
Riders will take their seat preparing for take-off, gliding from side to side at increasing heights whilst circling around the control tower. Before long, a series of gravity defying barrel rolls in both directions will have you soaring and diving throughout the air.
With banks, loops, dives and weightlessness to test the most experienced thrill seekers, it promises to be the flight of your life.
The exhilarating new addition will complete the line-up of exciting rides in the Action Park area of the attraction, alongside thrill-seeker favourites Maelstrom, G-Force and Europe’s only stand-up rollercoaster, Shockwave.
