£3 million investment in Fantasy Island

Following a £3 million investment in Fantasy Island, the Lincolnshire theme park has unveiled a new indoor mini-golf course, bowling alley and six junior rides for 2017.

The theme park was purchased by Mellors Group in March last year and had a very successful 2016 season, including welcoming back the extreme 50-metre tall thrill ride G-Force.

Fantasy Island is best known for The Millennium, a 150ft tall looping roller coaster, and The Odyssey, the UK's third tallest roller coaster at 167ft tall with a top speed of 62mph.

In addition to the new multi-platform Lava Creek Adventure Golf Course and the new American style Ten Pin Bowling within the indoor Family Entertainment Centre, the six new junior rides for 2017 are Sea Storm, Mantis, Crazy Caterpillar, Glowworm, Bizzy Dizzy Beez and Bouncing Bugs.

Sea Storm is manufactured by Mack Rides, with Mantis (Jumpin' Star), Crazy Caterpillar (Crazy Bus), Glowworm (Rockin' Tug), Bizzy Dizzy Beez and Bouncing Bugs all supplied by Zamperla.

James Mellors said:

“We have had a fantastic first season at Fantasy Island. Announcing a significant investment for 2017 is our vote of confidence in our great management and staff team, in Fantasy Island as a visitor attraction with amazing potential and in Skegness and Lincolnshire as a fabulous holiday and day-trip destination and as a place to live.”

Edward Mellors said:

“This is not a one-off investment, it’s the first. Our commitment is long-term. Developing Fantasy Island, continuously improving the customer experience and attracting more visitors is a big and important part of our ambition to grow The Mellors Group for future generations.”
