Sky Force: New for 2017 at Flambards

Flambards near Helston in Cornwall will open a spectacular new thrill ride in 2017, with Sky Force coming to the theme park in time for the Summer.

Sky Force is the first genuine ‘white knuckle’ ride to be unveiled in Cornwall and construction work has already started to ensure the attraction can open in time for the Summer school holidays in July.

Suspended on a set of four giant 18-metre metal legs, the HUSS Frisbee ride will exert up to 3G in force on it's passengers while swinging them in a pendulum motion and simultaneously spinning through 360 degrees. It will have a minimum height requirement of 1.4 metres.

The ride previously operated under the name Pendulus at the Pleasure Island theme park in Cleethorpes, and is the only ride of this type in the UK. A similar Fabbri Frisbee ride operates as Black Fly at the West Midland Safari & Leisure Park.

Flambards General Manager, Richard Smith, said:

“Sky Force is a real white knuckle ride and it will be the first of its type and size to operate in the South West. As a result we are expecting it will prove hugely popular with our visitors and we will be keeping everyone fully updated with its progress over the next weeks and months as we get closer to officially unveiling it. It can accommodate up to 40 people so you will be able to share the excitement and watch the expressions of the other riders as the speed increases and the g-forces really start to take effect! Sky Force is a significant addition to the park and will provide a major new reason for people to visit. Everyone here is very excited to finally be able to get work underway on the new ride and we can’t wait to unveil it to our visitors this summer.”

The new thrill ride is the latest in a series of new developments and attractions to open at the Cornish theme park in recent years.

Visitors to the park will be able to watch the construction of the ride when they visit. It will then undergo intensive trials and inspection before being opened to the public.
