Experienced BASE jumpers, Dave Moores and Max Hurd, both 39, take on the first ever UK BASE jump off a rollercoaster at Thorpe Park on Monday 7th April 2008.
The jump, not for the faint-hearted, will take place off the top of Stealth – Europe’s fastest rollercoaster which rockets from 0-80mph in under 2 seconds and has a height of 62.5 metres.
Stealth With a combined 850 BASE jumps under their belts, the diving duo have completed a huge variety of jumps off fixed objects around the world including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. Max Hurd was also the first British person to jump into the Cave of the Swallows in Mexico.
Max Hurd, Director at UK ProBASE comments: I started BASE jumping in 1996 and I haven’t looked back since. Jumping off Stealth is an amazing opportunity; I only hope I can jump as fast as it accelerates! Marketing Director of Thorpe Park, Carolyn London says: Thorpe Park is the nation’s thrill capital and it doesn’t get bigger than this! We are really proud to host the UK’s first rollercoaster BASE jump!
