Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2022 - review & photos

Thorpe Park is celebrating 21 Years of Fear at their legendary Fright Nights event in 2022. We were invited to the VIP Preview to join the party and brave their lineup of terrifying attractions.

SPOILER ALERT! Although we have kept the spoilers within our review to a minimum, it does include photos from inside the scare attractions.

With last year's event voted the Best Halloween Event at the UK Theme Park Awards, we had high expectations for 2022, and we were certainly not disappointed.

Three new attractions join the lineup in 2022, scare maze Survival Games, scare experience The Terminal and scare zone Death Doors.

Survival Games - Scare Maze (NEW)

Survival Games are coming, giving you the opportunity to prove your worth & elevate your social status. Will you choose the path to victory, or will it be game over in this gruesome scare maze?

Located behind The Swarm in a new purpose-built structure, social media platform YVEL invites the public to become members and prove their worth. To do this, participants must navigate a dangerous labyrinth filled with murderous assassins, whilst being watched by an online audience.

Clearly taking inspiration from television series such as Black Mirror and Squid Game, it's a very intense experience in which are guests split up almost immediately and must complete sections of the maze alone. The scare actors will intimidate and touch you!

Most often a scare maze isn't actually a maze, and follows a linear route. That's certainly not the case with Survival Games, it's a genuine maze. We actually got completely lost and ended up desperately searching for the way out for at least 10 minutes.

Thorpe Park says that Survival Games is their single biggest Fright Nights investment to date, and with many years passing since The Cabin in the Woods departed, it's great to see the park bringing back a non-linear scare maze.

Trailers - Scare Maze

Witness the power of film come to life in Trailers. No fear will go unmissed as you find yourself stuck inside an even more intense never-ending loop of terror in this spooky scare maze!?

Trailers is a megamix of horror themes, all cleverly wrapped up in an overarching storyline about a power surge at the SuperSpark Cinema. It's the most entertaining scare maze the park has ever created, with something to discover at every turn.

There are so many brilliantly executed scenes, and plenty of references to some of the most iconic scare attractions from the past 21 years of Fright Nights at Thorpe Park. We won't say any more about how the audience crosses over and how it ends, but you are certainly in for a treat!

Creek Freak Massacre: The Final Cut - Scare Maze

With their livelihood at stake and the threat of demolition looming over the sawmill, the bonkers Buckwheats have cranked up the chaos for one final rampage in this terrifying scare maze.

Returning one final time, Creek Freak Massacre is still the most extreme scare maze in Fright Nights history. The intensity of the acting is again exemplary from start to finish, as you pass through the blood soaked corridors of the sawmill, encountering the most horrifying scenes and then becoming victims of the murderous maniacs that have taken over.

Expect to end up crawling on your knees, be split up from your group, and come face to face with multiple aggressive actors at once. There will be loud noises, flashing lights and sudden jump scares throughout. Brace yourself!

The Terminal - Scare Experience (NEW)

Pack your bags and enter your cryo-pod aboard The Terminal for a one-way trip to an intergalactic utopia. Sit back, close your eyes & prepare for a NEW out-of-this-world audio scare experience.

Created in partnership with DARKFIELD, this binaural audio experience invites guests to enter cryo-sleep for a journey like no other.

After an elevator ride to the transporter, in which the backstory for the experience is outlined, guests are seated in pods and put on headphones. Following a brief countdown, the lights go out and the audio scare experience begins.

The experience demonstrates how incredibly effective audio alone can be, enveloping guests in an immersive soundscape that triggers your imagination into creating a series of terrifying events happening all around you. It's like a nightmare, while you're still awake.

Death Doors - Scare Zone (NEW)

Venture into The Locksmith’s lair & come face-to-face with 21 daunting doors, each hiding a sinister secret. Will you dare to enter this scare zone and knock on Death’s Doors?!

In this brilliant addition to the event, guests are free to roam the mist-filled walkways beneath Nemesis Inferno, knocking on doors to reveal each new scare.

Every time you knock on a door, a new surprise awaits you... some creepy, some scary, and some bizarre.

The Crows of Mawkin Meadows - Scare Zone

Venture even deeper into the cursed village of Mawkin Meadow and unearth the origins of the infamous Crows. Trek through the fields of corn and hope your presence goes unnoticed.

This huge scare zone is even better in 2022, with lots of added theming, lighting and effects. The Crows are back, and there are more of them than ever before.

Graduation SUCKS!

It’s graduation night for the students of Amity High, but can the two schools put their differences aside or will their bitter rivalry overpower the celebration & end the night in tragedy in this freaky scare zone?

Once again (and possibly for the last time) the werewolf and vampire students from both high schools come together, to form a flash mob of music and dance.

Creek Freaks Unchained

An uncertain future lies over Creek Woods Sawmill, forcing the Buckwheats to flee their land. This year, the deranged family are roaming the island looking for sweet revenge!

Now with their very own vehicle, the Creek Freaks are free to roam the park and terrorise any victim that dares get in their way.

Birthday BASH!

You’re invited to Hattie and Hugo’s 21st Birthday day Bash… but these are no ordinary twins! Don’t be fooled by the bright balloons & shimmering streamers.
