Alton Towers Scarefest

Alton Towers will again be celebrating Halloween in 2026.

Visit the theme park on selected dates 26th September – 1st November for hair-raising antics and spooktacular surprises!

The theme park is open each day from 10am-9pm throughout the event, giving you a whole 11 hours of scares. When night falls, it's an incredible opportunity to ride the most famous rides at Alton Towers in the dark, including Wicker Man.

In 2025, the headline attraction was The Edge of the Forest, a new live-action scare maze located in the Dark Forest area of the theme park. The storyline introduces guests to the “Leshwall”, a sinister spirit said to twist trees and invade minds, while “tree-like creatures” lurk in the shadows. It’s being billed as one of the Resort’s most intense scare mazes to date.

Alongside the maze, a brand-new scare zone called Dark Hollow expanded on the world of nearby roller coaster TH13TEEN. This free-flow walkthrough area immersed guests in the Dark Forest mythology, where sightings of “The Twisted” – creatures punishing those who disturb nature – formed the basis of the theme.

Scare Mazes

• Final Exhibit (New for 2026) – beyond the archive doors lies The Curator's forgotten collection, where each room reveals a dark secret and every turn draws you deeper into his sinister world.
• Edge of the Forest – Whispers wind through the withered woods at the edge of the Dark Forest, where a forgotten cottage stands as the last remnant of a forgotten time.
• Altonville Mine Tours – a long-running fan favourite scare maze.
• COMPOUND – Step into a world where you’re the subject of a sinister sci-fi experiment. Scientists are attempting to weaponise your DNA.

Scare Zones 

• Dark Hollow – The forest breathes, its ancient roots stirring restless and shadows flicker between hollow trees. Dark Hollow is a free-flowing outdoor scare zone where a chilling presence watches, waiting to draw you deeper into the darkness.
• Burial Grounds – The Unchosen, a cult obsessive of modern-day fanatics obsessed with the lore of the Beornen invite you to their sacred sanctum of ancient burial grounds. Keep your pace amongst the desecrated realm of unearthed bodies, flaming shrines and monstrous deities. 

Spooktacular Family Fun

• Trick O’ Treat Town with HARIBO and MAOAM – a family-friendly walk-through with sweets and playful scares.
• Amigos in the Afterlife – a colourful, Día de los Muertos-inspired celebration for all ages.

Rides in the Dark

• After dark, the park’s headline roller coasters – including Nemesis Reborn and Wicker Man – and the new thrill ride Toxicator – opened into the dark of night, adding another layer of thrill.
