Valgard: Realm of the Vikings set to invade Paultons Park in 2026

Paultons Park has unveiled details of an ambitious new expansion, announcing the arrival of Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, a bold new land opening in 2026 that promises to bring Norse mythology to life with epic attractions, immersive theming, and groundbreaking thrills.

Anchored by the park’s first-ever inverting roller coaster, Drakon, the new themed area will take guests deep into Viking lore, complete with two soaring coasters, wild rides, a themed playground, and a Nordic-inspired dining hall. Situated adjacent to the popular Lost Kingdom area, Valgard is designed to appeal to older children, teens, and thrill-seeking adults—marking a thrilling new era for Paultons Park.

Leading the charge is Drakon, a custom-designed Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter coaster featuring a dramatic vertical lift hill and a beyond-vertical drop. This high-speed, double-inversion ride will intertwine with Raven, the park’s reimagined Gerstlauer Bobsled coaster (currently known as Cobra), which is being reborn with a new identity and theme rooted in Viking legend. The two intertwining tracks promise a dynamic and visually stunning experience.

A UK first, Vild Swing, will bring new energy to the park’s ride line-up. This 12-metre high Art Wild Swing will be the first of its kind in the country, offering intense air-time and swinging sensations sure to delight brave warriors.

Alongside the headline rides, families can explore a Viking-themed adventure playground, ideal for younger explorers, and refuel in a brand-new Nordic dining hall serving up hearty feasts worthy of Valhalla. The carefully crafted theming throughout the land will transport guests to a mythic Viking world filled with dragons, warriors, and ancient gods.

In addition to the land’s debut, Paultons Park is looking to expand its offerings beyond the day-visit experience. A planning application submitted in March 2025 outlines the ambitious development of a holiday village adjacent to Valgard. The proposed resort would feature 85–95 lodge-style accommodations, complete with their own dedicated parking and entrance to the park—creating an all-new destination experience for families seeking a short break.

Valgard: Realm of the Vikings is set to open in 2026, with construction already underway. With its bold storytelling, thrilling rides, and an all-new resort offering on the horizon, Paultons Park continues to solidify its status as one of the UK’s most innovative and exciting theme parks.

Prepare to be brave. Valgard awaits.
