New Operator Reveals Plans for Trago’s Family Fun Park

In a major win for Devon tourism, the Trago Family Fun Park in Newton Abbot is set to reopen this Easter. Following its sudden closure in late 2025, the local park has been thrown a lifeline by South West-based leisure experts, Play Leisure Services.

Just months after a "deeply regretful" announcement in November 2025 confirmed the park's closure due to financial unviability, the future of the attraction has been secured. The takeover ensures that one of the region's most iconic family days out will not be lost to history.

A Local Lifeline

The rescue mission is being led by Exeter-based businessman Matthew Conridge, Managing Director of Play Leisure Services. For Conridge, the acquisition is as much about nostalgia as it is about business.

"I used to come to Trago’s Fun Park as a child... I didn’t want to see it stay closed. This place is part of Devon’s story," Conridge stated. Under his leadership, the company aims to build a sustainable future for the site, ensuring it remains a staple for the next generation of Devon families.

What’s Returning this Easter?

Fans of the park can breathe a sigh of relief, as the new management has confirmed that all the heavy hitters of the Newton Abbot site will be back in action for the Easter holidays:

  • The Family Fun Park: All major rides are being prepped for reopening.
  • The Model Railway: The world-famous indoor attraction, a favorite for generations, will once again be open to the public.
  • Splash Adventure: The water-play zone is scheduled to reopen as the warmer weather arrives.
  • Bickington Steam Railway: Having remained operational throughout the transition period, the beloved railway will continue to be a core part of the experience.

Behind-the-Scenes Improvements

Play Leisure
isn't just reopening the gates; they are already underway with a programme of ongoing improvements. In a modern twist, the park is inviting the community to watch the restoration and prep work happen in real-time. Progress updates and sneak peeks are being shared via TikTok, giving locals a front-row seat to the park’s transformation before the official launch.

While an exact opening date has yet to be finalised, they are planning on Saturday 28th March in time for the Easter Holidays. The park will be free to enter and then 'pay per play'. Prices will range from £1-£3 per activity.
