Theme park operator Mellors Group has announced it will slash summer ticket prices at both Fantasy Island and Lightwater Valley, passing the Government’s upcoming temporary Value Added Tax (VAT) reduction straight back to consumers.
The price cuts will run from 25th June until 1st September 2026, aligning directly with the school summer holidays. The move follows the UK Government's decision to drop VAT from 20% down to 5% for eligible visitor attractions across this specific period.
Direct Savings and Early Booking Protection
Rather than just absorbing the tax break into their profit margins to counter rising energy and operating overheads, the operator has chosen to lower gate and online entry fees to make family days out more accessible.
For guests who have already purchased summer holiday tickets or wristbands ahead of the pricing shift, Mellors Group has introduced a price-protection policy:
- On-Site Credit: Anyone booking a Fantasy Island wristband prior to the 25 June rollout will receive the price difference returned as a credit voucher to use inside the park.
- Bonus Arcade Credit: As an incentive, Fantasy Island will match the exact refund amount with additional free arcade credit for use on the day.
James Mellors, Managing Director of Mellors Group, said:
“We know many families are still feeling the impact of rising household costs, and we understand that days out can often be one of the first things people cut back on when money is tight.
“Creating memories together shouldn’t have to be a luxury, which is why we’ve taken the decision to pass these savings directly on to our guests. We want families to enjoy a fantastic day out without worrying as much about the cost.
“This summer is shaping up to be one of our biggest yet across both parks, and we’re committed to offering great value alongside great experiences.”
Summer Line-ups Across the Parks
The price reductions coincide with major summer operational pushes at both locations.
Fantasy Island
The Ingoldmells resort, which houses over 35 rides and attractions alongside Europe’s largest seven-day market, is rolling out a dedicated summer events calendar.
Key dates include the Country & Western Day on 4 July (featuring themed line dancing and a Shania Twain tribute act) and Glastonsea, a beachside music festival headlined by tribute band Complete Madness.
Lightwater Valley
Following its acquisition by Mellors Group, the Ripon-based family adventure park is continuing to expand its attractions for younger children.
The park's summer season will spotlight its newest ride investments, including the recently opened Spinning Coaster and the Lightwater Wheel.
Updated ticket prices and more event details will be published on the Fantasy Island and Lightwater Valley websites ahead of the 25th June.
