Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced that a new themed land inspired by the popular video game Minecraft will open at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in 2027.
The exciting £50 million project, named Minecraft World, will be the first of its kind at a major theme park. Drawing inspiration from the game’s biomes, characters, and items, the new area is designed to bring the digital experience into a physical setting.
New Attractions and Experiences
The development will feature a variety of new attractions, including the world-first Minecraft-themed roller coaster. In addition to the new ride, the land will include interactive adventures, themed play areas, and dedicated retail and dining outlets.
Merlin Entertainments has confirmed that they are working closely with Mojang Studios and a selection of Minecraft creators to ensure that the land will provide an authentic experience for the game's global community.

Investment at Chessington
This £50 million investment follows other major recent developments at the Surrey resort, including the opening of World of Jumanji in 2023 and World of PAW Patrol this year. As the UK’s wildest adventure, Chessington continues to expand its offering for families, combining its theme park attractions with its zoo and SEA LIFE aquarium.
Minecraft World will replace the former Wild Asia themed area at the park, with the Kobra ride being incorporated into the new land.
