A host of famous faces were spotted enjoying a day out in Blackpool for the opening of Pleasure Beach Resort’s Halloween event, Journey to Hell.
The park’s annual event kicked off over the weekend of 17 October, with brave celebrities joining members of the public to face an exciting line-up of scare mazes and thrilling rides. This year, Journey to Hell underwent its biggest ever shake-up, becoming an all-day event running from 10am to 9pm, complete with three brand new scare mazes, Halloween-themed live entertainment, and a selection of white-knuckle rides available after dark.
Among the well-known figures attending the launch were Britain's Got Talent winners George Sampson and Harry Moulding, Coronation Street actors Cait Fitton, Sydney Martin, and Jude Riordan, Love Island’s Sean Fitzy, actor John Thompson, and soap star Chelsee Healey.
Brand New Scare Mazes And Attractions
At the heart of this year’s line-up is a trio of newly designed scare mazes, complementing the park's wider collection of horror zones and roaming live entertainment:
- Eternal Abyss: Located within Pleasure Beach's 100-year-old network of subterranean transit tunnels, this maze takes inspiration from the park’s new £8.7m Intamin Gyro Swing, Aviktas. Entrants are recruited on an expedition into the lost temple of Angkor Wat to uncover the dark secrets dormant within.
- The Veil: Set inside an eerie house steeped in grief, visitors must cross into a traumatic realm connecting the living with the dead while confronting a macabre truth lurking inside.
- Deadline: A psychological horror experience set inside a sinister corporation offering a permanent solution to every complaint, where nobody ever clocks out.
In addition to the new mazes, visitors holding full maze access can experience ICON: Into the Void, a sensory-deprivation twist on the UK's only double-launch roller coaster that requires riders to brave the course while blindfolded.
Returning crowd favourites include Down the Rabbit Hole and The Ghost Train: Vault of Shadows, both offering dark, reimagined takes on classic park rides.
Extended 11-Hour Operations And Night Rides
For the first time in the event's history, Journey to Hell operates as an 11-hour day-to-night event from 10:00am until 9:00pm.
During daytime hours, standard park operations run alongside seasonal entertainment and a new family-friendly scare zone named Witch Way Out. From 6:00pm, the South area of the park closes while the North section transforms into the main evening scare zone.
An expanded collection of major rides remains open into the darkness, including Aviktas, ICON, Launch Pad, Infusion, Avalanche, Derby Racer, and Flying Machines.
