Paultons Park has announced a major new addition to its newly opened themed world, Valgard: Realm of the Vikings. Arriving in March 2027, Serpent’s Curse will become the UK’s very first water coaster.

The surprise announcement coincided with the official opening of the park's £12 million Viking-themed land.

A Unique Family Thrill

The new attraction is being developed in partnership with the world-renowned ride manufacturer MACK Rides.

Serpent’s Curse will feature a 471-metre-long track, blending the high-speed thrill of a traditional roller coaster with a dramatic water-ride finale.

Key features of the upcoming ride include:

  •  Hybrid Experience: Combines fast drops and coaster elements with a giant splash finish.
  • Impressive Speed: The coaster will reach top speeds of up to 44mph.
  • UK Exclusive: This will be a completely unique ride experience within the UK.

James Mancey, deputy managing director at Paultons Park, commented:

"We always have a surprise or two up our sleeve, and Serpent’s Curse is potentially our most exciting reveal yet. We’re working with the world-renowned MACK Rides to bring their fantastic water coaster to the UK. The speed and exhilaration of the coaster with such a dramatic finish into the water makes for something really special that works brilliantly within the Viking theme."

The water coaster aims to expand the line-up of Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, which already features Drakon, the park’s very first inverting roller coaster.

Continued Expansion for the UK's Theme Park of the Year

Located on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire, the family-owned theme park now boasts more than 80 rides and attractions across six themed worlds. These include the famous Peppa Pig World, the dinosaur-themed Lost Kingdom, and Tornado Springs.

The park continues to build on a highly successful period, having secured 10 accolades at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards, including Theme Park of the Year, Best Theme Park for Families, and Best Theme Park for Toddlers.

Valgard: Realm of the Vikings is open to the public now, and tickets can be booked directly via the official website.
