Plans approved for a new roller coaster at Southport Pleasureland

Southport Pleasureland has been given planning permission to introduce a new roller coaster at the seaside theme park.

Supreme Attractions Limited, the owner of Southport Pleasureland, plans to install a Lightning Coaster model from the Italian ride manufacturer Zamperla, which utilises the same layout as Thunderbolt at Luna Park in New York.

The ride has a length of 2,234 ft, a height of 115 ft and a top speed of 56 mph. It begins with a Vertical Chain Lift Hill and a 90.0° first drop.

During the ride, guests will experience 4 inversions; a 98 ft tall Loop, 82 ft tall Zero-G Roll, Dive Loop and Corkscrew.

The proposal is to erect the new roller coaster parallel to Marine Drive, creating a spectacular addition to the seafront and fantastic views from the ride.
