Room at Minecraft Hotel

Chessington World of Adventures Resort is set to become a block-builder’s paradise, with Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios revealing major new details for the upcoming Minecraft World, including the world’s first Minecraft hotel and the name of its headline rollercoaster.

Following the initial announcement of the £50 million project earlier this year, fresh details were unveiled during Minecraft LIVE, giving theme park fans and gamers alike an exciting glimpse into what to expect when the land opens in 2027.

Sleep Inside the Game: The Minecraft World Hotel

In a major expansion to the original land plans, developers have announced the Minecraft World Hotel, the world’s first-ever official Minecraft hotel.

Designed to let families and fans stay immersed in the game all day and night, the hotel will feature 69 themed rooms (split into 20 premium and 49 standard rooms) spread across four floors. The accommodations draw heavily on iconic game biomes, characters, mobs, colors, and textures.

Key hotel highlights include:

  • Themed Check-in: Guests are welcomed by blocky trees and animals bringing the Overworld to life.
  • Immersive Corridors: Features Nether Portal-inspired lifts and mine tunnel corridors.
  • Dining & Bars: An underwater-themed restaurant inspired by ocean biomes, alongside a potions bar themed after the Woodland Mansion.
  • CWOA Minecraft Hotel 4
  • CWOA Minecraft Hotel 2
  • CWOA Minecraft Hotel 7
  • CWOA Minecraft Hotel 6
  • CWOA Minecraft Hotel 5
  • CWOA Minecraft Hotel 3

Crafting the Adventure: Escape the Nether Rollercoaster

On the theme park side, construction is already well underway. Newly released timelapse footage shows Minecraft World taking shape block by block at the Greater London resort.

At the heart of the £50 million development, Chessington's largest-ever investment, will be Escape the Nether. This world-first Minecraft rollercoaster will feature both indoor and outdoor elements, taking riders on a high-speed adventure through dark mines before bursting out of the building through a Nether portal into the Overworld-themed area.
