Launch of Azteca Hotel

Chessington Azteca Hotel is now open, the second of the Resort Hotels located onsite at Chessington World of Adventures, and is set across three themed floors with spectacular views. There are 69 family-friendly rooms, a unique and interactive restaurant, and more - all situated right in the heart of Chessington World of Adventures.

We were invited to the launch of the Chessington Azteca Hotel, here is our review and a selection of photos.

The main entrance to both Resort Hotels has received a makeover, with new sculptures and planting outside, a new reception area known as Base Camp, a new animal habitat in the foyer featuring lizards and turtles, and many other refreshed areas.

After following the Azteca Trail from Base Camp to the Azteca Hotel you'll come across an interactive throne in the lift lobby.

Each floor of the hotel's rooms are themed, as are the lifts between them. All rooms are either Discovery, Temple Treasureor Temple Summit themed, decorated to a high standard and featuring colourful carpets and wall designs. There are separate sleeping areas for adults and kids with their own televisions, a well sized bathroom, and all the usual hotel amenities.

Adults get a comfy king-size bed and there is a bunk bed plus pull-out bed for the kids, all themed to match the room. There is even a puzzle to solve which provides the combination to a themed safe with a gift to take home as a reward.

Breakfast and dinner are served in an all-you-can-eat buffet style at the Temple Restaurant & Bar. It is a big place with both indoor and outdoor seating available. The outdoor area includes a water feature and views of the AMAZU Treetop Adventure.

We recommend a table near the monkey fountain in the centre of the restaurant, where most of the action takes place each time the temple comes alive with sound and light, but wherever you are seated there are 'window' screens to entertain.

There is an impressive range of food options available at breakfast and dinner, served from the various themed areas. The quality of the food was particularly good, especially the healthy Salad Bar at dinner and Smoothie Bar at breakfast.

The leisure facilities include the Savannah Splash play area for kids with 15 metre swimming pool for adults and a small gym.

The launch event featured a range of themed cocktails, delicious canapes and a host of wild entertainment including an up-close illusionist, jugglers and stilt-walkers, face-painting, caricatures, photo booth with fancy dress, meet and greets with some of Chessington's animals, VIP tours, an exciting performance by tribal dancers, and a Fire Gods finale.

All guests staying at the Resort Hotels benefit from early access to the theme park before it opens to other visitors, so we decided to head in early and explore the new AMAZU Treetop Adventure area featuring monkeys, birds and other creatures.

The Chessington Azteca Hotel compliments the Chessington Safari Hotel perfectly and whichever hotel you choose you can enjoy all of the facilities at both Resort Hotels, including the Zafari Bar & Grill, Temple Restaurant & Bar, Savannah Splash Pool & Gym and The Rangers Club. We had a lot of fun during our recent stay and would certainly recommend it.
