Thorpe Park is trialling a brand new system that allows visitors to book their ride time for The Swarm straight from their smartphone - so they're free to enjoy the rest of the park instead of standing in a queue.
The park says that the Reserve 'n' Ride virtual queue system will help them "become the first theme park in the world to offer a No Queue Guarantee in the future". It will initially only be available on trial days this summer - 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25 August and 7, 8 September.
How it works:
- Get one person in your group to log in to free Thorpe Park WiFi - look for The Cloud and sign up to get online.
- Visit www.reservenride.com on your smartphone on the day of your visit to register.
- Choose to ride forwards to backwards and reserve your group's ride time for The Swarm.
- When your countdown clock hits 0:00 head to the ride entrance.
- Enjoy The Swarm
Reserve 'n' Ride is a free service, similar to Disney's Fastpass and Legoland's Q-Bot systems. For visitors without a smartphone a paper based reservation is available. Each reservation can accommodate up to 6 riders and there is no limit to the number of reservations that can be made although no more than one at a time. Reserve 'n' Ride is seperate to Fastrack, the chargeable system for reducing wait times on various rides.
Thorpe Park say that they "have listened to guest feedback and understand that queuing remains a frustration for our visitors. We are lucky to be able to do this trial using new and innovative technology and this will aid us when planning for future developments in the park".
