On this page you can find out about the new rides and attractions that Thorpe Park may be adding in 2009 and future years. The last few years have seen the addition of Thorpe Park’s “unholy trinity” of fantastic roller coasters - in 2002 it was 10 looping Colossus, the park added Nemesis Inferno in 2003, and in 2006 the rocket coaster Stealth was launched.
Development Plans
Planning documents submitted to the local council in 2003 outline what the park have planned over the next few years, however plans often change so not all of these ideas may actually materialise -
2009
- A rollercoaster in Canada Creek located near Loggers Leap
2010/2011
- Treasure Island kids corner which would include 3 flat rides
2011/2012
- A Fantasy Island/Runaway Train ride and play zone
Thorpe Park have submitted a planning application to build a new roller coaster in the Canada Creek area of the park ready for 2009. The plans reveal that it will be a Euro-Fighter type ride (similar to Speed at Oakwood in Wales), include 3 inversions (zero-g roll, immelmann loop & dive loop), be themed around an Old Sawmill, and will be manufactured by Gerstlauer (with British designer John Wardley also involved).
Thorpe Park have applied for planning permission for a new waterside hotel with 250 rooms, several restaurants & bars, conference facilities and a health club. The park plan to build the hotel on the current site of the mineral works next to the car park. There would be new landscaping, a 375 space car park and there are also plans for a boat service linking the hotel to the theme park.
