9.45 - After our traffic-free journey we arrived at the gates to Thorpe Park, quickly guided to a parking space right by the entrance. The impressive park sky-line with it's towering roller coasters and thrill rides left us brimming with excitement! With our tickets already in hand we went straight in as the park was open a little early. Across the entrance bridge with it's mystical music and through the underwater themed dome to start the TP-UK Big Day Out for 2005!
10am - We decided to head down into the Lost City, with no queues yet we jumped on Vortex, a thrilling spinning and swinging ride through the air. Then over to Zodiac to enjoy our first vertical loop of the day. Quantum was next, a truly stomach wrenching experience, glad we did that before lunch!
11am - After a wander past the construction site for Rush (opening in June), we passed under the winding track of Colossus and after a short queue we went through 10 g-force packed inversions. On leaving the Lost City we went for an extreme flight on Samurai then crossed into Canada Creek to ride Loggers Leap, giving us our first face full of water for the day!
12pm -Slammer wasn't open yet and the kiddies rides of Ranger County weren't on our to-do list so we decided to head for Calypso Quay to climb the volcano and board Nemesis Inferno.Getting hungry now, it was time to tuck into a feast at KFC in Amity Cove, we were served quickly and really appreciated the wave stricken theming.
1pm -Rumba Rapids was up next, our second soaking of the day and with the Ribena berry factory it's really good fun. Lunch had now settled so time for another injection of adrenalin, a 2 second drop down 100ft on Detonator, that really took our breath away. The giant paddles of Slammer (new) were by now spinning so we raced over for what proved to be the ultimate head rush.
When riding Slammer you are locked in with both a neck and waist restraint, you're then launched into the sky and spun forwards and backwards so all the blood in your body rushes to your head, a very intense experience!
2pm - We entered the vast X:\ No Way Out pyramid full of anticipation but even though there were some minor improvements, the long and claustrophobic dark corridors plus the bad language from some individuals left us feeling lucky to escape!
3pm - Pirates 4D had showings every hour and provided a nice break from the intense thrill rides. Although it was a slightly gloomy day we couldn't resist taking a splash on Tidal Wave, we got soaked! Afterwards the Thorpe Park Megastore was a great place to pick up some souvenirs of the day.
4pm - Back to Canada Creek to chill out with some coffee and waffles whilst deciding what rides we wanted to do again. We chose to go back to Nemesis Inferno, Colossus and Vortex, our personal favourites, it really made our day to be able to ride these again.
5pm - It was sadly now time to leave, not before picking up our collection of ride photos from Port Atlantis and taking a few more pictures from the bridge. Sitting back in the car we felt exhausted - what an amazing day out!
