Haunted House Monster Party

Guests are invited to join the frightfully friendly Vampire for a monster party at his spooky new haunted home to celebrate his arrival in the LEGOLAND neighbourhood.

The main facade of the ride is an excellent recreation of the Haunted House from the LEGO Monster Fighters range, with added LEGO bunting and balloons.

It's a shame that, like with NINJAGO The Ride, a lot of the building is corrugated metal with minimal themed elements, but the front section looks brilliant.

There are two LEGO gargoyles above the entrance gates, and the queue line features talking statues, photo opportunities and interactive elements. It's entirely outdoors, so would benefit from some cover from the sun or rain.

Once inside the Haunted House, guests head upstairs to join the Monster Party, where there's an entertaining pre-show featuring Lord Vampyre, Spider Lady and the Monster Scientist. We loved all the little details, from the scaled up LEGO fire torches and bats, to the various LEGO Minifigures.

A combination of screens, lighting, sound and projection is used, and it gets everyone into the party mood - there is even some dancing involved!

The ride is an imaginatively themed Madhouse attraction by Vekoma, a family-friendly version of Hex at Alton Towers.

Party guests take their seats either side of a banquet table in a decorated hall, brimming with food, cauldrons, potion bottles and goblets each made up of hundreds of LEGO bricks.

Once sitting comfortably, Lord Vampyre (shown on a screen) reveals his magical party trick, which brings the banquet hall swinging to life and turns the room upside down!

It's the clever use of lighting, music and moments of complete darkness that make this new version of a classic ride so effective.

The attraction achieves just the right balance between being spooky and funny, making use of LEGO characters to help with that.

Our two VIP adventurers Carrie and Isaac were really impressed by the new ride, fascinated by the clever illusion and loved the catchy ride music.

The minimum height for this ride is just 0.9m (guests under 1.3m need to be accompanied by an adult) which will allow many young children to experience it.

It's also another of a growing number of indoor attractions at LEGOLAND Windsor that can be enjoyed no matter what the weather, including NINJAGO The Ride, Atlantis Submarine Voyage, Laser Raiders and LEGO Studios 4D.
