The Pirates of Zanzibar at Flamingo Land

It's never been a better time to visit Flamingo Land in Yorkshire, as the UK’s only combined theme park, zoo and holiday village introduces a swashbuckling new live show, exclusive animal encounters, improvements to the leisure complex and premium accommodation.

Flamingo Land has launched the The Pirates of Zanzibar, a spectacular performance on the Black Heart galleon stage. The live show tells tales of swashbuckling Tanzanian pirates’ adventures, and features acrobatic sword-fighting action and plenty of special effects. It takes places 3 times across the day - 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

The Pirates of Zanzibar tells the story of a crew descended from the infamous Spice Pirates of 1779, when spices were the most valuable items in the world. After reaching the East African Coast, the Spice Pirates invaded the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar, which became the 'black heart' of their evil empire.

The second phase of the leisure complex The Splash Zone has been completed for staying guests, and includes a larger swimming pool with an infinity pool edge, counter-current swim jets and 2 indoor flume slides.

There is also a newly renovated Gate House situated just before the park entrance for those that wish to stay in a secluded location in the picturesque village of Kirby Misperton. This is premium accommodation, and expands on the brick built Signature Collection. They are also offering a Platinum Plus range of holiday homes, and have expanded into a new field, Maple Grove, with a range of hire fleet and holiday homes to buy.

Flamingo Land will be constructing a presentation venue with elevated platform for those that wish to take part in a new outdoor Giraffe Animal Encounter from late Summer 2016. After hearing all about this endangered animal, the VIP guests can feed leaves to the Rothschild giraffes from the platform.

They are expecting the arrival of another female black rhino Chanua in late Summer 2016 from Chester. She will join Samira and Olmoti, the mother and baby already in residence at the new Black Rhino Selous Reserve, with elevated viewing platform. They came from Zurich in September 2015, and were the first rhinos in this new reserve.

If you are looking for white knuckle thrills, there is a sensational collection of 8 extreme rides, including the latest roller coaster Hero that puts visitors in a flying position before swooping them around a track. The suspended roller coaster Kumali is a real showstopper and there is also the once world record breaking Mumbo Jumbo with a 112° vertical drop.

In addition there is a great choice of junior and family rides. All the attractions in Dino-Stone Park have a dinosaur theme. Soar 45 metres into the air on the Pterodactyl swing, spin on the family roller coaster Twistosaurus and pedal on Cyclosaur. See animatronic dinosaurs, life-size Dino skeletons and search for dinosaur bones in the Dino Dig sand.
