Spook-Fest at Crealy in 2023 - review & photos

The popular Halloween event at Crealy Theme Park & Resort is back! Trick or treat yourself to a spooky day out in Devon this October and discover all the frightful attractions for family fun.

Spook-Fest at Crealy is very much a Halloween event aimed specifically at families, but there are spooks and scares aplenty, and the event features an extensive line-up of attractions and shows.

There are a total of seven additions to the normal theme park offering, with each one given a 'scare rating' between 1 and 5, so there's something for everyone and it means that the event is suitable for adults and children of all ages.

NEW: Creaky Hotel

Are you brave enough to enter our Creaky Hotel? This walk through experience is full of spooky surprises with new rooms added for 2023...

While waiting in the eerie themed queue, costumed characters warned of the creepy goings on in the Creaky Hotel. Once inside, were were greeted by a ghostly bellhop, who introduced us to the experience and led us to our room, number 13. Once inside, we passed through the hotel - encountering lots of haunting scenes and characters. The live actors delivered some great scares, making this a 5/5 on the scare rating for the event.

Scarecrow Scare Maze

Be scareful for what's lurking around the corner in this years Scarecrow Scare Maze - featuring new frights!

This impressive scare maze started off with singing pumpkins and dancing skeletons as we entered the labyrinth of corn, but it quickly turned into a surprisingly intense experience with an intimidating scarecrow and a bombardment of visual and sound effects. The jump scares came next, then the finale set in a misty lake with a lurking witch. Another definite 5/5 on the scare rating!

NEW: Dino Jeepers Creepers

New for 2023, sink your teeth into this audio immersive Dinosaur experience & get ready for a rawr-some trip through the reimagined pre-historic jungle.

The addition of a specially created audio track to accompany the park's Dino Jeeps attraction enhanced the ride experience, but we would have also liked there to have been some changes to the physical aspects to really bring it to life. A scare rating of 3/5 for this one.

Treehouse Trolls

Join the woodlander in his quest through the Wilderness, but watch out for new mystical residents this year residing in the Woodland treehouses.

We really enjoyed this live actor-led storytelling experience in the woodland that surrounds the park, which provides something so unique and very different from the typical scare attractions that you find at Halloween events. It's spooky fun, so a 2/5 scare rating.

Book Of Spells

The Book Of Spells returns with spectacular new acts! This enchanting cirque show, created and performed by Ice Glitz Productions, tells the tale of a young witch who discovers a book of spells that has power to turn our everyday lives upside down! Featuring breath-taking aerial arts, daring acrobatic tricks, dynamic dance and cutting edge choreography, all performed to a sensational soundtrack.

This entertaining 30-minute live show is also included in the price of admission and features a variety of typical circus acts, all brought together into a special Halloween performance with a themed soundtrack. Just a 1/5 scare rating, so suitable for everyone.

Halloween Sooty Show

Sooty, Sweep & Soo take to the stage with a new spook-tacular show!

Crealy is home to Sooty Land, so it was brilliant to see Sooty, Sweep and Soo getting into the Halloween spirit too, and dressed in special outfits for this comical live show.

Pumpkin Patch's Plot

Collect a FREE pumpkin for every child from Patch's Plot this spooky season! How will you carve yours ready for Halloween?

At the end of our visit we passed through Pumpkin Patch's Plot to collect our free pumpkin to take home - what a great way to end the day!

The event not only offers a brilliant line-up of attractions and shows, but Halloween treats are also available. The highlight being the Donut DeFRIGHT which combines delicious soft serve ice cream, a warm sugared donut, blood red sauce, chocolate soil, candy eyeballs and teeth, and a flake, all for just £3.95.

Admission to Crealy during the event costs £20 per person, which includes all the Halloween attractions and shows, a pumpkin for every child, and the normal rides and play areas at the park - it's superb value!

It was wonderful to see how much effort had gone into the event and we had a 'Crealy good time', so thank you to the park and the whole team behind it.

Spook-Fest at Crealy Theme Park & Resort in Devon continues until 29th October 2023.
