Alton Towers News

Alton Towers announced a new three year improvement plan back in December 2015, called Towers Loving Care (TLC), and we're now starting to see some of progress from across the theme park.

In addition to adding new attractions, restaurants, shops and entertainment, maintaining and enhancing the existing rides and areas is a big part of keeping Alton Towers so magical.

Alton Towers has confirmed details of a much awaited refresh for Air in 2016, as it becomes Galactica, the first rollercoaster in the world dedicated to virtual reality.

Set to open in Spring 2016, Galactica is the world’s first rollercoaster entirely customised for the full virtual reality experience, transforming riders into astronauts and plunging them into outer space with a G force more powerful than a real rocket launch.

Alton Towers has announced details of the UK's first Rollercoaster Restaurant which will be opening at the theme park in 2016.

Opening in May 2015, the new Rollercoaster Restaurant is set below a vast rollercoaster track where diners can watch as their food orders tackle two gravity defying loop-the-loops before dropping 8 metres down a tornado spiral to their table.

Alton Towers has announced their 2016 opening dates, some teasers about a new ride experience and a 3 year improvement scheme.

Following the previously confirmed return for The Smiler roller coaster, there will be a number of other changes for 2016 at the UK's number 1 theme park.

Alton Towers has announced that its investigation into the incident on The Smiler on 2nd June 2015 has now finished and the world's first 14 looping roller coaster will reopen on 19th March 2016.

The theme park was closed for five days after the crash in which 16 people were injured, four seriously. When The Smiler reopens it will feature new safety systems.
